Day345: Marseille “The Edible Tool”

The pasta salad I picked up at the supermarket—perfect for a lazy meal for one—came with an “edible fork” made of baked wheat instead of plastic. At first glance, I thought it would become useless the moment it got wet, but it was surprisingly sturdy. It feels as though we are no longer forced to endure poorly functional tools in the name of being eco-friendly. I felt the steady progress of technology through the solid weight of this tool in my hand.

スーパーで買ってきた、一人暮らしのズボラ飯にちょうど良いパスタサラダに添えられていたのは、プラスチックではなく、小麦などで焼き固められた「食べられるフォーク」だった。見たところ、濡れたらすぐに使えなくなりそうだと思ったのだが、驚くほど丈夫だった。環境への配慮を理由に、使いづらい道具を我慢して使う必要がなくなってきている。プロダクトの確かな進歩を、手元の手応えで実感した。
